Parking Issues around Dowlais Primary School PACT Priority Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Patrols were carried out by officers around the school this morning and warning tickets were issued to 2 vehicles that were parked on the pavement not leaving enough room for a pram / wheelchair to pass, on AZALEA PARK.

We are working in partnership with other agencies and partners to tackle the issue including
- Request has been made for patrols to be made by the Council Enforcement Vehicle
- We are assisting with the schools Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO's)
- Dowlais Primary are sending information to the parents requesting them to park safely and legally via Social Media and text
- The JRSO's have worked hard creating a banner that ill be displayed outside the school encouraging safe parking
- The JRSO's have also created a newsletter which shows where it is safe to park locally and just a short walk away
- PCSO's will also be patrolling the area when available
- Local cllr's have given £1000 funding to the school to assist with funding banners and other projects

We will continue to work with the school, other agencies and partners to resolve the issues.
